2012-01-18 - Nominations are now open for the 2011 H.L. Cudney Memorial Sportsman-of-the-year Award and will be accepted from January 1 to January 31, 2012. The award was established in 1962 in honour of the founder of the funeral home, the late Harold Cudney, who contributed greatly to sports activities in the city of Welland. The owner of the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, Joseph Libertini, is proud to continue this great tradition with 2011 being the 49th anniversary of this award. Members of any organization or an individual who has shown true dedication, professionalism and has risen to the top of his or her particular sporting field should be considered for nomination. The nominee can either be an athlete or anyone who has made a significant contribution to an athletic organization or team. All nominations must be in writing and only photocopies of support material will be accepted. Nominations can be mailed or delivered to: Sportsman-of-the-Year Award Committee, H.L.
